Provoked
Reveiwed: April 7th 2007
I know what to expect from a British film and that's exactly what I expected, and what I got, from 'Provoked'.
A serious issue... made very well. Entertainment-wise it was hardly the best entertainer and film-wise it was not exactly the best film...but nevertheless I'm really glad I saw it on the big screen...Because above everything else, I think...It's a story that, as a PERSON I think, was worth listenning to!
I think the film could've showed us more... we could've seen more of the violence Kiran went through... it would've helped. The ending was a bit kacha-kacha too... I mean was she freed straight away? How many months after? How come she was allowed to go out of the court just like that when her appeal was successful? That was really confusing...
I think the 2 stars that shine through are definitely Kiranjit Ahluwalia and Aishwarya Rai...both deserve a hug! Kiranjit for being a real star and Aishwarya for churning out what is undoubtedly not just the performance of her career but a performance of a lifetime!
Aishwarya stole my heart...I felt like giving her such a big hug...The performance was just so amazing... The way she emoted through her eyes, her expressions, her dialogue delivery...everything...absolutely FANTASTIC...not to mention that as always she looked damn gorgeous... But seriously the performance was so good that words fail to describe it... I wish she does more roles/films like these 'coz she's capable of SO much and this just proved it, I'm really happy to say that she was...AMAZING!!!
Other actors were great too...everyone excelled in their roles. I think the only person who disappointed was Naveen Andrews or whatever his name is...He quite sucked haha...bad performance from him, pretty fake!
But otherwise all the actors were fantastic! The movie though..of course belongs to Aishwarya in every way
So yeah...it's not the most amazing film..but the message it churns out is fantastic... it really makes you think and it makes you CRY..MY GOD does it make u cry or what It's a total Brit movie...made in a typically Brit way..so I dunno how people from other parts of the world will connect with it...
But I think they just might coz on the level of humanity...and thanks to Aish's great portrayal of Kiran..this movie should touch the heart of every human being...
Good movie....and I just can't stop thinking about some great scenes (will discuss them later) and Aish's performance...a must watch for reason x/y/z....Everyone shud see it...so what u waitin for??
