Shaka Laka Boom Boom [2007]

Dharshan's are not really my cup of tea, I like very few of their films... so my expectations were not high. The film is really slow paced and drags on and on...you are left wondering at numerous instances as to WHAT THE HELL is happenin haha... Quite a boring film...but some scenes are good....

Some good scenes I remember:
- Funny scene near beginnin when Kangana thinks Upen is following her haha
- When Anupam dies and Upen goes to India to immerse the ashes and he's sitting at his house with the ashes remembering when he was growing up with his dad, very sweet scene
- near the ending when Bobby is making Upen make all that music and Upen is so ill and Bobby's pretending to be like his friend and fooling him

Some HILARIOUS moments:
- The disco ball falling on Bobby..OMG I couldn't control my laughter... I mean it'd be really sad to happen to someone BUT this was just hilarious *no offence* it was just so..haha I mean how could they think of this?!
- when Bobby is in hospital and starts getting those weird visuals ROFLLLL of those dragons and all flying around...omg what crap animation, that scene just shocked me so much that I was sitting there with my hand on my mouth

Performances

- Bobby Deol stole the show...he was brilliant...really, really good. Was nice to see him take on a negative role and he totally pulled it off... his expressions and dialogue delivery were perfect. His body language also was great... For the 2 hours of the film he was not Bobby Deol, he was AJ.

- Upen Patel annoyed me...I mean he was OK in some scenes... but his bum chin annoys me so much and his fake blue contacts irritated the bloody life outa me... not to mention that stupid voice they used to dub for him...urghhh he was strictly average!

- Kangana Ranaut was bloody irritating and pathetic... my request to her would be for her to retire already... at least she was watchable in Gangaster/Woh Lamhe... over here she is just so horribly annoying... urgh! She can never be a top actress because she can never even do these average-heroine roles! I cannot beleive this is the Filmfare Newcomer Award winner, how undeserving, shocking and horrifying!

- Celina Jaitley looked really pretty but didn't have scope to deliver anything acting-wise.

Music.......songs are really good... I especially love Thaare Vaaste.

OVERALL Shakalaka Boom Boom starts off on the dullest note... it's really slow paced...but it was OK to watch, I guess better then doing nothing. But I wouldn't necessarily tell anyone to watch it...if you have something better to do..don't bother with this!! Actually I would only advise Bobby Deol fans to watch it...'coz from how I see it: only if you're a Bobby Deol fan OR have nothing better to do (and I was both of these haha) will you think this film is 'Strictly OK'..otherwise you'd probably think its super-crap!!

Rating: Out of 5...I'd give is 2 and I am probably being kind. 1 for Bobby Deol, 0.5 for the Music and 0.5 for the concept which could've evolved into something better.
