Ek Rishtaa: The Bond of Love (2001)

Ek Rishtaa: The Bond of Love

I had bought the DVD sometime last year so I decided to watch it again last night as I've not seen it since it released back in 2001. I didn't remember anything except the songs so watching it yesterday was almost like watching a new movie.

The Story was good... And the film didn't really drag even though it was almost a full 3 hours. Screenplay was fine, though there were moments that could've easily been chopped off [Sankla! ]

Music is awesome... I always loved the songs of Ek Rishtaa and even today the songs are beautiful and fresh! Dil Lagane Ki Saza, Mohabbat Ne Mohabbat Ko & Ek Dil Hai are awesome.

The Cast were all chosen aptly as each actor does justice to their role, be it from Amitabh Bachchan to Suniel Shetty to Shakti Kapoor.

Amitabh Bachchan was fantastic. As much as I may have begun to dislike this guy in real life, there's no denying his capabilities as a performer - he's beyond brilliant.

Rakhee was good and it was nice to see her play a mum role, as you don't really get to see people like her these days sadly.

Akshay Kumar was perfect. He's an outstanding actor and fit this role as well as he fits any and every role... One of the most brilliant actors of his time, he's such a natural. And his onscreen chemistry with Amitabh is just so touching. Amitabh-Akshay make a far, far, far better father-son pair then Amitabh and his real life son!

Karisma Kapoor looked gorgeous! First off I have to say Manish did an amazing, amazing, amazing, amazing job with her outfits *sigh*...The outfits still look so fashionable, unique and pretty even 6 years later! She just looked amazing and performed really well. I miss her!

Juhi Chawla acted naturally as always and looked adorable! However, I have to add how much I hated her character... If it wasn't Juhi playing it I don't think I could've coped watching it, though the character did improve in the last portion, but seriously what a dim person...I wish someone would've switched Preeti's lights on!

Mohnish Behl acted well and did justice to the negative character.

I was surprised to see Suniel in his appearance, as I had totally forgotten he was in the film, but it was nice to see him.

OVERALL Ek Rishtaa's a sweet film with a nice story, good performances, great music and GORGEOUS outfits worn by Karisma Haha, I had to mention the outfits again! It was fun watching it again after so many years.
