Kareeb [1998]

Kareeb
Reviewed: 14 June 2007

I was watching this film after such a long time today, and it's always been a favourite of mine. Even today I loved it so much! It's a perfect love story *sigh* just so awesome, so sweet! It does have a very slow pace, but Kareeb is one of the very rare occasions on which the slow pace of a film didn't annoy me! I didn't skip a single scene or forward a single moment, each moment was worth watching

Music: What an awesome, awesome, awesome soundtrack... Each song is so perfect! My favourite songs are:

* Haan Judaai Se Darta Hai Dil [Definitely the best one... It's so sad and makes me almost cry everytime I watch the film or hear the song!]

* Reet Yahi [Aww so emotional... A typical 'bidaai' tearjerker, puts a lump in my throat!]

* Tera Gussa [Amazingly hilarious and cute song haha... It's a classic!! I've always loved singing this one ]

Also really like 'Chori Chori Jab Nazrein' and & 'Churalo Na Dil Mera'...

The entire soundtrack is full of amazing songs, albums like these remind me why I used to be such a huge Anu Malik fan... I miss him so much these days, come back Anu!!

Performances:

Bobby Deol was perfect! He was so cute with his dorky and adorable facial expressions haha and I loved his character! "Yeh mera saath hi kyun hota hai" -- Something I myself am always thinking too, so I could so relate to it!! This was the second Bobby film I saw today and I enjoyed watching him so much. He's such a natural actor, so perfect... His dialogue delivery, the way he emotes, his looks, his dancing... Everything about him is just simply awesome. Today I feel more a Bobby fan then anyone elses fan haha I just have fallen in love with him all over again. He's so amazing! I really wish him all the best and all the success 'coz a brilliant actor like him will only go from strength to strength and one day he will achieve the success he deserves, God bless him.

Neha was good and did justice to her character. She had a very strong role and acted very well. This is the only film I've liked her in! She was good in Rahul too but her first performance [in Kareeb] remains her career-best, the role really suited her. I think Amrita Rao looks an incredible lot like Neha, there's a big resemblence.

Moushumi Chatterjee was adorable! She looked so cute and acted really well. And she really looked like she was Neha's mum!

Saurabh Shukla was great... Actually I don't know if I have ever liked him in another movie as much as I like him in Kareeb.

Johnny Lever was very good, this is one of the few 90s movies where I did not ever feel the need to skip his scenes haha...Gotta love him though, he's so funny and cute!

Abhay Chopra acted well and did justice to his role. I was just wondering though, if anyone knows if this is THE Abhay Chopra? As in Ravi Chopra's son [Uday/Adi's cousin]??

Overall Kareeb has always been a favourite of mine and it remains so even today. I was watching it after a long gap and enjoyed myself so much!! Rocking movie!
